Health Benefits

Banana

* Bananas have high levels of potassium which help to make you stay alert.

* High in antioxidants, bananas protect from chronic diseases.

* Eat a banana inbetween meals to stabilize blood sugar and reduce nausea from morning sickness.

Pears

* Pears are naturally high in vitamins C and K, as well as nutrients such as copper. These act as antioxidants to fight free radicals.

* Pears are an excellent source of dietary fibre. Studies show that fibre can lower levels of bad cholesterol by binding to bile salts (which are made from cholesterol), then carry them out of the body.

* In addition to binding bile salts, the fibre in pears can help to remove cancer causing chemicals in the colon.

Raw Nuts

* Before eating raw nuts, soak for 8-12 hours or overnight in filtered water and a pinch of salt. They are easier to digest and remove an outer coating that contains a digestive enzyme inhibitor.

* All nuts are high in vitamin B which is necessary for metabolism and cell growth.

* Nuts help to prevent heart disease and cancer because they are rich with antioxidants.

Health Warning

Raw Nuts

* If you have a viral infection, DO NOT eat nuts because they are high in arginine, an amino acid that can encourage the outbreak of herpes type viruses.

* Peanuts are susceptible to a fungus that generate poisons called aflatoxins which can cause liver damage.

My aunty once told me that I brought my kids up right because they love and that was the highest compliment anyone could say to me. Still floundering from relationship to relationship in search of 'true love', it wasn't until quite recently that I finally stumbled upon it - love for myself - in all its entirety ... more
