Self-Realization

There are two perspectives to life, two points of view where we can learn from, develop opinions of, and gain experience through. They are the outside and inside perspective of our mind (our thoughts and feelings).

The Outside

* Is when you are living 100% totally on the outside of your body. Everything you think about and do, is related to you, your family, your friends, your career - total absorption.

* It does not mean that you are 100% on the go every waking moment of your life, no it does not - because you would be in a psychiatric unit if that were the case. No, I'm talking about a deeper absorption - you know the type - where you live just for you - totally absorbed in the game of your life - living the ups and downs as if you totally believe that your life depended on it - that there was no other alternative - unaware of the inside perspective - totally blind (literally) of its existence.

* You fear death and therefore never think about it.

* You never think about what happens after death - you just assume that you and your loved ones go to Heaven - unless they were really bad, then they will go to Hell.

* You don't know where Heaven and Hell are - up there beyond the stars, or down there below the earth. If we were to navigate a ship to these places, how would we get there with those co-ordinates?

* If an outsider ever contemplated the inside perspective, they would consider it to be 'rubbish' - how can that garbage put bread on the table, or pay a fair days wage?

The Inside

On the inside, you are ... the opposite - living 100% totally on the inside of your body - not to be confused with a timid introvert who is too scared to open up and live their life. No! From the perspective where you are sitting in the energy field that runs up your spine and out your fontanelle - behind your eyes - at the very back of your head - unaffected by the ups and downs associated with your life ... knowing, understanding, seeing!

From this perspective you are linked to the Source of Creation! From this perspective you can see the colours of your chakra merging into a bright light of energy! From this perspective you are sitting in the 'Golden Middle Way' - neither one nor the other - you just are - as the needle that balances on thread [now whose parable was that? Ahh that's right - Jesus!] - cool!

This is the place we are all heading toward - all at different levels of understanding our inner truth (which is to realize that we just are!).

"What?", I might hear you say! "What?"

"What indeed", she sighs!

Well that's a bit boring! Who wants to be nothing? Not wanting or trying or feeling and thinking, not living or dying, just are!

Ha! Boring is not even a drop in the ocean of thought and emotion, and I can assure you it is every emotion (including boredom), all bundled into one big energy ball - and there we are, sitting in the middle of it all!

Wo!

Wo indeed! How many of us are strong enough and concentrated enough to walk in that energy field and not be affected by it?

So, what does all this mean?

Hmmm, let's have a think ... from the moment of our birth, we are pawns to our thoughts and emotions, and depending upon the type of life we were born into, will determine the types of emotions that will be most dominant in our life. Each culture or race have their own emotional character, as does each level of society. We are each born at a particular time on a particular day in a particular year, which lends more insight to our character traits, and, we are born of parents who have added some of their traits to our character as well.

Learning these character traits will enable us to realize our positive and negative traits and therefore, understand who we are as a person. Once we understand ourselves, we become happy to spend time alone until there comes a time when there is no distinction between any of it - we just are!

Not only must we understand and control all these emotions, but we must also understand and control the intake of emotions that we encounter each day from other people and situations that have entered into our life. The worst types are those who appear friendly and helpful on the outside, but are harbouring some sort of negative trait on the inside that we are unaware of. These types of people or places are dangerous because that energy rubs off onto us, causing our moods and character to change accordingly.

Although we are individual souls who think and feel, strive and believe, give and receive, there is a place within ourselves where we can go to gather strength and energy to survive another day. We go to this place when we sleep or meditate. Babies exist within this place before they are born into the outside world and when we die, we go back to this place. Our bodies die and return to the earth, but our conscious and thinking selves, return to this place. When we are enlightened, we are sitting in this place whilst living our lives at the same time.

Learning about the self (or self-realization), will help us to find this place, and consciously stay where we all just are!

About Amelia Robinson

I am the second eldest of five (all girls), and spent most of my growing years on an Orchard, where my father worked. Religion and Spirituality was talked about and sometimes followed, but not persistently. I always felt alone and try as I might, could never seem to find a relationship where I could give my love completely and not get hurt, until I had my children. My aunty once told me that I brought my kids up right because they love and that was the highest compliment anyone could say to me. Still floundering from relationship to relationship in search of 'true love', it wasn't until quite recently that I finally stumbled upon it - love for myself - in all its entirety ... more
